Jason Statham Beekeeper 2: Trailer, Release Date, Cast and What to Know

Jason Statham is back as Adam Clay. Amazon MGM Studios released the first full trailer for The Beekeeper 2 on October 15, 2026, and the sequel reaches theaters on January 15, 2027. This time, Clay has to fight the very group that made him, after the Beekeepers go rogue and set their sights on taking control of the United States government.

The first film was one of the surprise action hits of 2024, and the trailer suggests the sequel is going even bigger. Here is everything we know so far: the story, the cast, the release date, and where else you can watch Statham right now.

What happens in The Beekeeper 2 trailer

The first trailer for The Beekeeper 2 picks up with Adam Clay pulled back into the fight. The Beekeepers, the secret group of highly skilled assassins who trained him, have stepped out of the shadows. Instead of working in secret, they now want to take hold of the government by force, and Clay is the one standing in their way.

It is a clear step up from the first film. In the original, Clay was taking revenge on a single criminal network. Now he is up against the whole organisation that created him, which gives the sequel a bigger, more dangerous feel.

Timo Tjahjanto directs the sequel, taking over from David Ayer, who directed the first film. Tjahjanto is known for hard-hitting action films such as Macabre, The Killers and Headshot, and he most recently directed Nobody 2 with Bob Odenkirk. While preparing the film in London in 2025, he said the villains would feel like something out of manga pages, which hints at a wilder, more stylised sequel.

The film has been rated R in the United States for strong bloody violence and language, so it is very much in line with the first one.

The Beekeeper 2 release date

The Beekeeper 2 arrives in theaters on January 15, 2027. Amazon MGM Studios is handling the release, and a poster and release update for the sequel confirmed the date alongside the trailer launch.

The January date is no accident. The first Beekeeper opened on January 12, 2024, and that winter slot worked well for it, with little direct competition from other action films. The sequel is using the same window three years later.

There is no streaming date yet. That will come after the cinema run, as it did for the first film.

Who is in the cast

Statham returns as Adam Clay, the retired assassin turned beekeeper. Several familiar faces are back with him:

  • Jeremy Irons as Wallace Westwyld, the former CIA director
  • Emmy Raver-Lampman as FBI agent Verona Parker
  • Jemma Redgrave as Jessica Danforth, the President of the United States
  • Bobby Naderi, also returning from the first film

New faces joining the sequel include Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland. Statham also produces the film, alongside Chris Long and Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the first film.

What happened in the first Beekeeper

If you missed the first film, the story is simple and direct. Adam Clay lives a quiet life keeping bees, but he is really a former government assassin. When scammers steal from a retired schoolteacher and she takes her own life, Clay sets out to take down the whole fraud network behind it.

The film, directed by David Ayer from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer, also starred Josh Hutcherson as tech chief executive Derek Danforth, the man running the scam, along with Minnie Driver and Phylicia Rashad.

It did far better than expected. The Beekeeper earned $162.6 million worldwide, including $66.2 million in North American theaters. Critics gave it a 71 percent “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences rated it far higher, at 92 percent from more than 2,500 verified reviews. That gap between critics and audiences is part of why the sequel got made: viewers loved it, even if reviewers were cooler on it.
